Senior Web App Developer – Full Time

The Company

HOVR.IT is a funded technology company located in the heart of Toronto, Canada. We are in the business of leveraging really powerful technologies to make the day-to-day tasks for people dead simple. HOVR.IT uses proprietary image recognition and computational linguistics to make images online clickable for product search. We have recently begun expanding our development team and are looking for really talented engineers to join our team. The Role

We are currently searching far and wide for talented and driven engineers to join and grow our development team. Because we are a start-up, every team member’s ideas will be explored. You must be a self-starter and you must REALLY love to code. We focus on design and user experience and make sure our developers work closely with our designers, which enables us to build gorgeous software with some really unique user experiences.

You should have significant experience in JavaScript and building browser extensions. We thrive to build the best web applications. You will be responsible for working with our designers and product managers to build out a user experience for our web application. You will work closely with our CBIR and back-end engineers to integrate our API’s.

Responsibilities

  1. Continue to build the HOVR.IT platform with new features, enhancements, integrations, device support, etc.
  2. Development and architecture of the HOVR.IT web based UI Framework and associated APIs.
  3. Performance tuning and optimization of large-scale web applications and systems.
  4. Work in collaboration with product management to define and continually refine the development roadmap.
  5. Create tests, demos and documentation around new features and functionality.

Mandatory Qualifications

  1. Excellent Javascript and jQuery developer
  2. Preferred experience in node.js
  3. Strong understanding of HTML5 and CSS3
  4. Experience with mobile web applications, specifically browser extensions for Google Chrome and Firefox
  5. Strong background in PHP
  6. Experience integrating API’s (i.e ReST, SOAP, etc)
  7. Experience performance tuning web applications
  8. Strong documentation skills
  9. Experience with code repositories (i.e GIT)
